About Us

Welcome to School of Medical Sciences, University of Phayao

      The University of Phayao was previously a satellite campus of Naresuan University in Phitsanulok Province, and became an independent university in July 2010. The School of Medical Sciences was officially established in October 2007, and since that time has maintained the aims of producing graduates in the field of Medical Sciences who meet both of the Thai Government’s plans: the Plan of Public Health Development and the Plan of Science and Technology Development. Moreover, the School of Medical Sciences educates and trains students in both basic and pre-clinical sciences.
      The initial curriculum of the school began with transferring all microbiology undergraduate students from the School of Science and Technology to the School of Medical Sciences under the Division of Microbiology & Parasitology. Later, in 2009, the curriculum of Science and Technology in Sports was established. By 2011, the School had been reformed into five departments: Anatomy, Physiology, Microbiology, Parasitology, and Pathology. The department of Pathology was later transferred to the School of Medicine. The following year, the School set up two additional divisions: the Division of Biochemistry and the Division of Nutrition and Dietetics. Currently, our five Divisions are as follows:

      o Division of Anatomy
      o Division of Physiology
      o Division of Biochemistry
      o Division of Nutrition and Dietetics
      o Division of Microbiology and Parasitology

       To serve the mission statement of the University of Phayao, "Wisdom for Community Empowerment," our aims therefore comprise various endeavors, including educating all allied health science students in basic and pre-clinical courses, conducting academic research, performing community service, and nourishing local cultural heritages.
       To achieve these goals, our organization operates within the core tenet of "TRICK":

      T = Transformative Education
      R = Research Excellence
      I = Innovative and Entrepreneurial graduates
      C = Community Service
      K = Knowledge Exchange with the Industry and Community
